Between now and the end of this year, artists like Maxwell,  Sade, and Whitney Houston who topped the R&B charts in the 80′s and 90′s are all planning to release comeback albums. For all three of these artists, their new albums will mark their first studio albums in more than 6 years. Maxwell’s up first with his album “BLACKsummers’night”  out in stores on July 7th, ending his nearly 8 year hiatus. The album’s first single, “Pretty Wings” debuted in April.

Next up will be super star Whitney Houston with her highly anticipated new album, still untitled, scheduled for a September 1st release date. The album, produced under the direction of Clive Davis,  is rumored to include appearances by Alicia Keys and Akon.

Sade, who’s hits in the 80′s and 90′s included the songs, “No Ordinary Love” and “Sweetest Taboo” has not released an album since her 2002 effort “Lovers Live.” Her latest album is expected to be released at the end of 2009.
