(Audio) Joan Rivers Calls First Lady Michelle Obama “Blackie-O”
Joan Rivers is in hot water after appearing on the Howard Stern show where she referred to First Lady Michelle Obama as Blackie-O. The comedienne told Howard Stern she held herself back from incorporating the following joke into her stand up routine: “We used to have Jackie O now we have Blackie O!”
The comedienne was comparing First Lady Michelle Obama to former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy a.k.a. Jackie-O.
Rivers said she didn’t do the joke because she feared she would be labeled racist and says she doesn’t think it was offensive:
“I thought it was a funny complimentary joke when she first came (to the White House)….. I think it’s an adorable joke… I thought it was a compliment!”
