Author E. Lynn Harris Passes Away

HListed has confirmed that author E. Lynn Harris passed away suddenly Thursday evening in Beverly Hills, California.

The 54 year old author was on the west coast promoting his most recent book, “Basketball Jones.” The novel was about the trials and tribulations of an NBA player and his gay lover.

The former IBM executive wrote 11 novels and started out as a self published author selling books out of his trunk. Though his novels centered largely around gay culture for black men, his biggest audiences were women.

Harris recently served as a visiting professor for the English Department at his alma mater, the University of Arkansas, and was a passionate Razorbacks fan, serving for a time as a cheerleading sponsor/coach for the school’s cheerleading squad.
