Buju Banton Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison
Reggae singer Buju Banton was sentenced by a federal judge today to serve ten years in prison for conspiring to set up a drug deal.
The Associated Press is reporting that the singer was found guilty of conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute cocaine, possession of a fire armĀ in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense and using a telephone to facilitate a drug trafficking offense, reports the AP.
Banton was expected to serve as much as 15 years but the judge dropped the gun charge. He will be eligible for parole after 5 years.
