Doug E. Fresh Opens up a New Restaurant in Harlem

Doug E. Fresh has opened up a new restaurant in Harlem called “Doug E.’s.” The restaurant is on 132nd and Adam Clayton Powell sees his restaurant as an opportunity to give back to Harlem and to create jobs for local residents:

“Really even in this whole Obama initiative, and everything that’s going on with the economy, the only way to jump start it is we have to give each other opportunity. That’s the only way to make it work,” says Fresh.

The 44-year-old hip hop legend says the restaurant will serve up traditional soul food and Caribbean cuisine. He envisions hiring new jobs for teenagers in the neighborhood. Doug E. Fresh is not new to the neighborhood. He and his wife own a recording studio within blocks of the restaurant and the couple are rumored to have their sights set on opening a comedy club next.
