Eddie Murphy Resigns as Host of Academy Awards
Eddie Murphy has announced that he will not be hosting the Academy Awards next year as originally planned. The actor’s announcement comes on the heels of Director Brett Ratner’s resignation as the producer of the 2012 Academy Awards following some homophobic remarks he made recently.
In his written resignation, Ratner said he is “taking real action over the coming weeks and months in an effort to do everything I can both professionally and personally to help stamp out the kind of thoughtless bigotry I’ve so foolishly perpetrated.”
No word yet on who will host in Eddie Murphy’s place.
