Gabby Sidibe’s New Role On Showtime Series

This is for those of you (and special shout out to Howard Stern) who have been wondering what’s next for Gabourey Sidibe following her NAACP win and Oscar nomination for her role in the movie, ‘Precious.’ As we reported months ago, the actress will have a frequent role in a new Showtime series called “The Big C”. We now have more details on her role thanks to Paste Magazine:

Sidibe will play a sass-talking student in central character Cathy’s class.

The dark comedy, which will premiere in the fall, is Emmy award-winning Laura Linney’s project through and through; not only will Linney play the lead role, but she’s wearing the producer hat as well. The series follows Cathy (Linney), a suburban wife, mother and teacher who is dealing with a terminal cancer (The Big C) diagnosis. So far, Showtime has picked up 13 episodes of The Big C.
