Kanye West Responds to Bush; Says Taylor Swift Moment Was Bigger

In a recent radio interview, Kanye West says he understands why former President Bush felt being called a racist (by Kanye) was a low moment in his presidency: “I definitely can understand the way he feels, to be accused of being a racist in any way, because the same thing happened to me, where I got accused of being a racist.”

While Kanye is able to empathize he compared calling former President Bush a racist incident to the Taylor Swift incident saying: “The [Swift] situation is bigger to me than the Bush moment. It’s bigger than a lot of things.”

The rapper is responding to comments by former President George W. Bush who writes in his new book, ‘Decision Points’ that Kanye calling him a racist following Hurricane Katrina was an “all time low” in his presidency.

Overall Kanye says he’s now able to connect with Bush: “With him, it was a lack of compassion of him not rushing, him not taking the time to rush down to New Orleans,” he explained. “For me, it was a lack of compassion of cutting someone off in their moment. But nonetheless, I think we’re all quick to pull a race card in America. And now I’m more open, and the poetic justice that I feel, to have went through the same thing that he went [through] — and now I really … connect with him on just a humanitarian level because … the next morning when he felt that, I felt that same thing too.”
