Light Punishment For Roethlisberger?

roethlisbergerThe NFL announced today that they are suspending Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger for a mere six games despite allegations he sexual assaulted a female college student in Georgia last month. Last week the District Attorney overseeing the case in Georgia said Roethlisberger would not face prosecution.

In 2007, quarterback Michael Vick was suspended by the league indefinitely after pleading guilty to dog fighting charges. In addition to the league suspension he also served jail time.

The following is an excerpt from the letter NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell wrote to Roethlisberger, “There is nothing about your conduct in Milledgeville that can remotely be described as admirable, responsible, or consistent with either the values of the league or the expectations of our fans.”

We want to know from you, is the NFL letting Roethlisberger off easy?  Do you think the league would have doled out a tougher punishment had Roethlisberger been black or is race not an issue?
