1010am Smokey Robinson opens ceremony and reads condolence messages from Nelson Mandela and Diana Ross who says she will be there for Michael’s children if they ever need her.
1022am Service is on standby…. awaiting motorcade and casket to arrive at Staples center
10:34am choir sings “soon very soon” as Jackson casket is brought onstage
10:36am Pastor Lucious Smith welcomes guests and says “we remember this man by celebrating his life” and says “as long as we remember our time with him the truth is he is never really gone at all…”
10:40am Mariah Carey sings “I’ll be there”…. Mariah is emotional as she sings… you can hear it in her voice affecting her range….Trey Lorenz joins her onstage….. Mariah Carey ends with a “we miss you”
10:45am Queen Latifah says “you believed in Michael, he believed in you. he made you believe in yourself and i loved him all my life.” She says, “michael was the biggest star on earth. he let me know that as an African-american, you can travel the world.” and that he was “a human being, first.”
10:48am Queen Latifah reads poem from Dr. Maya Angelou who says “he was ours… we had him…. beautiful, delighting our eyes.”
10:50am Lionel Ritchie performing “Jesus is Love”
10:54am Berry Gordy says “he was the consummate student. he studied the greats and became greater he raised the bar and then broke the bar” ….says that Michael Jackson was like a son to him. “Michael Jackson went into orbit and never came down.” Gordy says King of Pop is not a big enough title and calls Michael “simply the greatest entertainer who ever lived”

11:07am Stevie Wonder says “this is a moment that I wished I didn’t live to see come. but as much as I can say that and mean it i do know that God is good and I do know that as much as we may feel and we do that we need michael here with us, God must have needed him far more.”
11:08 Stevie performs “Never Dreamed You’d Leave in Summer” and intersperses an emotional “Michael, why didn’t you stay” into song… most emotional tribute thus far
11:15am Kobe Bryant and Earvin “Magic” Johnson… Kobe calls Michael a great humanitarian and says “michael jackson will be with us forever.” Magic says “Michael Jackson made me a better point guard in basketball.” huh?
11:18 Jennifer Hudson takes the stage to sing “will you be there”
11:25 Rev Al Sharpton says “all over the world today, people are gathered in love vigils to celebrate the life of a man who taught the world how to love.” says “it was michael jackson that made us sing we are the world and feed the hungry long before live aid.”
and to the family an emotional rev al says “nothing will fill your hearts loss but i hope the love people are showing that will make u know didn’t live in vain. i want his three children to know, wasn’t nuthing strange about your daddy it ws strange what your daddy had to deal with but he dealt with it anyway he dealt with it for us.”

11:39 A choked up Brooke Shields says about her bond with Michael “it was the most natural and easiest of friendships.” says “we had a bond and maybe it was because we both understood what it was like to be in the spotlight at a very young age.” she goes on to say “to the outside world michael was a genius with unchallenged ability. to the people who were lucky enough to know him personally he was caring and funny, honest, pure, non-jaded and he was a lover of life. he cared so deeply for his family and his friends and his fans. he was often referred to as the king but the michael i knew always reminded me of a prince”

Sheila Jackson Lee of Texas…. says “i mourn today… people don’t understand the hearts of entertainers… how they heal the world on behalf of America.” she says on June 25th on house floor the CBC stopped and had a moment of silence in memory of MJ. She says that she has introduced Resolution 600 to be debated on floor of the House that claims Mj as an american legend, musical icon, world humanitarian who will be honored forever.

what an interesting, unusual and original memorial service for an interesting, unusual and irreplaceable artist…
Keep up the great work – and can I say, the Jackson family looks SHARP. Brooke Shields’s eulogy made me tear at several parts. A truer friendship could not be felt.
The man, the magic, the MUSIC…….will indeed live on (forever)!!! I heart MJ :*)
