NBA Star Matt Barnes Arrested For Domestic Violence, Says He Is The Victim

New LA Laker forward Matt Barnes was reportedly arrested last night for felony domestic violence at his home in the Sacramento area. According to reports, Barnes’ fiancee Gloria Govan called 9-1-1 after a dispute the two were having escalated.

Here’s what the Sacramento Bee is reporting about the incident:

After speaking to Barnes and the woman, deputies determined that the two had been in a physical confrontation and Barnes had prevented the woman from talking to 911 operators. Curran said dispatchers heard the sound of a struggle in the background on the brief open line until it was disconnected.

Both parties had visible injuries but Barnes was determined to be the primary aggressor, Curran said.

The NBA star was also charged with maliciously obstructing the use of a telephone line. He was released on $50,000 bond around 10pm last night. Here is what Mediatakeout.com is reporting caused the fight according to a source: “the two were ARGUING over whether Gloria and Matt’s relationship TROUBLES would be video’d for next season’s BASKETBALL WIVES. The insider explained, “[Gloria] had been talking about their problems on camera, and Matt found out.”

Barnes meanwhile has taken to Twitter and local TV to defend himself. He texted the following to a local tv reporter: “U know any domestic violence situation 9 outa 10 times the man gets arrested. That’s the case here I was the victim but still got arrested. No matter what I say people are gonna think what they want…”

He then took to Twitter to encourage people not to “let your ears witness what your eyes didn’t see.” That sounds like a jedi mind trick to us!
