Watch Now: Obama Responds To Henry Louis Gates Arrest
Dr. Gates, a Harvard professor, was arrested last week after a neighbor called 911 reporting a break in as the professor attempted to pry open his front door.
At a press conference yesterday, President Obama responded to the arrest. After joking that he would get shot if he tried to “jigger” his way into the White House, the president talks about how race remains a factor in society.

I thought he said jiggle…is this word becoming an issue?
For me what stood out was not the word, “jigger,” but that he seemed to be drawing a parallel between himself and Dr. Gates by saying if he tried something similar at the White House, he would probably get shot. I’m curious whether folks are reading that along the lines of race; especially since one could argue that anyone seen tampering with a lock at the White House could conceivably be shot.
oh, and he definitely said, “jigger.”
