Paula Abdul Leaves Idol
Paula Abdul announced last night that she will be leaving American Idol. The singer had been intense contract negotiations for the past couple of weeks before announcing via Twitter on Tuesday:
“With sadness in my heart, I’ve decided not to return to IDOL. I’ll miss nurturing all the new talent, but most of all being a part of a show that I helped from day 1 become an international phenomenon. What I want to say most, is how much I appreciate the undying support and enormous love that you have showered upon me. It truly has been breathtaking, especially over the past month. I do without any doubt have the BEST fans in the entire world and I love you all.”
Paula had informed Fox prior to posting her statement on Twitter. Fox confirmed the split and released this statement last night:
“Paula Abdul has been an important part of the ‘American Idol’ family over the last eight seasons and we are saddened that she has decided not to return to the show. While Paula will not be continuing with us, she’s a tremendous talent and we wish her the best.”
Ryan Seacrest, one of her co-stars on the show had this response to her departure on his radio show this morning:
“She’s a dear friend, I love her to death and [I'm] really sad that it’s come to fruition that she released that statement on Twitter and then Fox released a statement too,” he said. “I’m just bummed because we’ve worked together for so many years, I mean, all of us have, and I think that if you had talked to Randy [Jackson] or Simon [Cowell], they’d say the same thing. “It’s sad, it bums us out, it’s not great.”
He went on to say:
“She’s decided to leave, and of course the network has said she’s fantastic, a huge talent, and we wish her the absolute best.”
No official comment yet from other ‘Idol’ judges Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson.

I am very displeased about Paula not returning to the show. Yes, we need Simon the (to the point guy) but we also need Paula. Paula knows what it is like to be on the stage, in the spotlight and to be critisized and I think that is why she is the beautiful and tactful person that she is. That being said, her and Simon compliment each other. Randy and Kara, (in my opinion) are just there. Randy gets a little annoying saying the same things over and over. Kara is a talented woman I will give her that, but she is just down right annoying and seems to not really have any of her own thoughts. She agrees with
the dog” 90% of the time. I don’t want what happened to Canadian Idol, to happen to A.I. I am a Canadian and enjoyed both shows, but have to say that Paula is the driving force as to why I tune in. I love the comrodery between her and Simon, and the show will not be the same without her. I think that Fox gave her a slap in the face with there final offer. She helped make the show what it is today. I also know that Ryan is liked on the show, but to pay him what he is getting and then offer Paula a small amount of what he is getting?? Is really insulting. I think that Fox need only look at the comments on Twitter and the fact that Paula is the big “talk” of the day. The Twitter’s including myself, watch or watched A.I. We are the people that tune in, and I think that it is very clear, that THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN!
fox and idol can go to HELL if PAULA IS NOT SAVED thay should of just accepted the raise she wanted cause the no idol wont be the same without her,them fuqkin jerks don’t know how to appreciate a talented women!!!!
and all i’m going to say now is that paula so rox and idol and fox do not..you guyas are to loose a lot of viewers.GO TO HELL!!!!!
I can’t believe fox! From now on I am not going to watch the whole FOX network in protest. Paula is so beautiful and not only on the outside, but on the inside too. I feel like crying. Why fox – WHY?????
I love paula ,,, I think she is up there with Randy and Simon….On the otherhand that girl kara…she hasn’t made an impression on me at all.. she has really hurt the show…they only needed the 3…..denise
if Idol loses Paula, they will lose a huge draw for the show… sometimes i wonder why they even bother trying to act like it’s a “seriously judged” talent show; it looks like even Simon is getting bored
