Phylicia Rashad’s Play To End On Broadway….

The Steppenwolf Theatre Company’s production of Tracy Letts,’ “August: Osage County” starring Phylicia Rashad is scheduled to end on June 28th after performing more than 650 shows on Broadway. Phylicia Rashad joined the production in May, in the lead role of Vivian Weston formerly played by Estelle Parsons.
“August: Osage County” chronicles the ups and downs of a midwestern family grappling with their patriarch’s sudden disappearance. Led by their acerbic pill-popping mother (Rashad), an assortment of issues ranging from drug addiction to incest rise to the surface as the family tries to solve the mystery behind her husband’s disappearance .
The play sold out it’s Chicago run in 2007 before moving to Broadway and winning the 2008 Tony Award for Best Play and a Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Throughout the course of it’s run, the play amassed five Tony Awards.
After it’s 20 month run comes to an end, the play will embark on a national tour beginning July 24th in Denver. No word yet on whether Phylicia Rashad will be among those touring with the play.
