Report: Jay-Z, Beyonce, And Rihanna Boycotted BET Awards Because Of Chris Brown’s Performance
We certainly thought it odd that Jay-Z, Beyonce, and Rihanna all were no-shows at the 2010 BET Awards this past weekend. As we reported earlier this week, we expected to at least see Beyonce at the awards because she was reportedly at rehearsals just days before the awards.
Now Mediatakeout.com is reporting (thanks to inside info from a tipster) that all three chose not to attend the BET Awards once they learned that Chris Brown was performing. Here’s what their tipster had to say:
“Rihanna and Jay have tours coming up that they are having trouble selling – of course they needed the exposure.” But the insider continued, “It was a matter of principal, if BET was willing to support Chris after what he did – that was THEIR BUSINESS. But [Rihanna Jay and Bey] were not going to have ANYTHING to do with the show.”
And not having any of the BIG THREE on the show was a problem. According to Nielsen, this years BET Awards drew 15% fewer viewers than last years.

Them not coming to the show was just ridiculous,. i mean chris brown hit rhianna 1 year ago, & he knows it was a mistake so why should we keep dragging him in the dirt about it??! The 3 of them (JAY Z, BEYONCE, & RHIANNA) obviously have something going on so whatevr! if they wanted to be “no shows” thats on them!
What did they thing BET was going to do? kick chris brown off the awards jus so they would come? —NO!:)
