Snoop To ReLaunch Priority Records
According to Sister 2 Sister Magazine:
Snoop Dogg is set to release his 10th album and helm the relaunch of a major record label later this year.
The rapper will resurrect EMI’s Priority Records in December when his album Malice N Wonderland comes out under Priority/Capitol. On top of that, he’ll be acting as Priority’s creative chairman and he’ll serve as an executive producer for a series of commemorative releases in 2010.The deal comes courtesy of Leonard “L.B.” Brooks, the head of Capitol Records’ urban music division, in his plan to rebuild Capitol Urban.
“Starting fresh with EMI is a great feeling,” Snoop said in a statement. “It’s a new partnership, a new Priority Records, and a new Snoop Dogg.” Snoop continued. “The business model we’ve developed will bring the musical heritage of groups like N.W.A. to the forefront. And you definitely got to get ready for my new album, Malice N Wonderland, in December to kick it all off. This is going to be the most potent dose of Snoop Dogg yet!”
Snoop did very well under Priority Records (his label home after leaving Death Row and before signing with Interscope/Geffen), and a lot of his best-selling albums were released by the label. Hopefully, he’ll match that success with Malice N Wonderland, which lists Dr. Dre and Pharrell as producers. The album will also feature appearances by Ludacris, Soulja Boy, Jazmine Sullivan and Lil’ Jon.
