(Video) President Obama Talks To Oprah About Birther Controversy
President Obama sat down for an interview with Oprah Winfrey this week to talk about his vision for the US.
He also opened up about the birther controversy saying that Republicans are focusing on that issue rather than focusing on running the country.
Obama shared the following about his vision for what America needs to do:
“We’ve got some serious decisions to make…. about how do we bring our deficit down and our debt down, but do it in a way that preserves what makes America great—our investments in education, our investments in infrastructure, our investments in basic research, making sure that we’ve got a strong safety net for our seniors.”
He also made mention of the birther controversy by calling out Republicans for focusing more on that instead of issues affecting every day Americans:
“And during the course of this major debate, where I gave a big speech and the Republicans voted on their proposal, the biggest news was this birth certificate thing.”
“We can’t be distracted by sideshows….and, as I said at my press conference, carnival barkers who are going around trying to get attention instead of actually solving the problems.”
This marked the first time in her 25 years on the air that Oprah has interviewed a sitting President. The interview is scheduled to air on May 2nd.
