(Video) Serena Opens Up About Recent Pulmonary Embolism On ‘The Today Show’
Serena Williams spoke with Matt Lauer on ‘The Today Show’ this morning to talk about a recent health scare. The tennis star was hospitalized recently for a pulmonary embolism (blood clot in the lung).
She said that throughout this whole ordeal she has struggled to keep her spirits up. She said that she is healthy and on her road to recovery but called her hospitalization “the scariest moment of my life.” She says she still has several clots in her lungs that she expects will dissolve on their own and that her “lungs are fairly healthy and on the road to recovery.”
She said the pulmonary embolism was likely caused by some blood thinners she was using regularly.
