Watch Now: Rev Al Calls Treatment Of Jackson “Despicable”
Rev. Al Sharpton spoke at 1st AME church in Los Angeles on Sunday about Michael Jackson’s death and what he calls the “despicable way” that some media outlets sought to destroy Michael Jackson.
Rev Sharpton said that there has been a “double standard” in the way that he feels the media has denigrated Michael Jackson before his funeral in ways they did not following the deaths of other celebrities like Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley.
Also during his sermon, Rev. Sharpton called for a day of national mourning tomorrow in memory of Michael Jackson and he encouraged the US Postal Service to celebrate the life of Michael Jackson with a special commemorative stamp. USPS rules usually require that commemorative stamps not be issued until 5 years following a death of a celebrity. No word yet on whether they will reconsider in this case.
Here’s a clip of the sermon below:

good lookin’, al….”he wasn’t no freak, he was a genius dealing with a freaky situation!”
If you can’t say “Amen,” say “Ouch.” Preach brother Preach! Like Rev. Al said, [Michael] wasn’t strange….he was a genius dealing with a strange situation. He did his part to give back to the world he lived in and the world he leaves for his kids….Can you say the same?” If not…..”get back to work!”
